Ardentiella sp. ‘Volcano’
is a breathtaking isopod species known for its orange-grey appearence. Its bold coloration and energetic lifestyle make it a standout species for experienced hobbyists.
These isopods are medium-to-large, day-and-night active climbers with striking contrast. They are not recommended for beginners, but once their needs are met, they thrive and reproduce readily in captivity
Environment:
Tropical-style terrarium or sealed ventilated container with vertical climbing surfaces—include forest moss, leaf litter, twigs, lichen, cork or tree bark.
Humidity:
Moderately high: maintain substrate at ~60–75% moisture; spray periodically while leaving small dry patches for airflow.
Diet:
Decaying plant matter, rotting wood, forest moss/lichen; supplement occasionally with fruits/veggies (e.g., carrot), fish flakes or gammarus shrimp for protein, plus calcium supplementation (cuttlefish bone, limestone, oyster shell)
Behavior:
Energetic, highly exploratory, capable of climbing smooth plastic or bark surfaces; active both day and night.
Temperature:
19–26 °C (ideal); slightly cooler is acceptable, but avoid high heat
Shipped as a mix of healthy juveniles and subadults
Weather‑appropriate packaging with insulation or cooling if needed
Shipping only when temperatures allow safe delivery
