Platymeris biguttatus

is a striking predatory insect native to West and Central Africa, commonly known as the white-spotted assassin bug. It is known for its contrasting black body and white wing spots, as well as its active hunting behavior. While easy to maintain, it should be handled with care due to its defensive bite and ability to spray venom.

These insects are non-climbing, hardy, and predatory, making them suitable for keepers looking for a low-maintenance but active display species.

Environment: Dry to semi-humid enclosure with bark slabs, vertical structures, and deep substrate for hiding
Humidity: Moderate; keep substrate lightly moist in one area while maintaining good ventilation
Diet: Live insects such as crickets, roaches, or mealworms offered every few days
Behavior: Nocturnal and fossorial, but often visible; may climb or hide under bark, not to be handled directly
Temperature: 22–26 °C
