Tropidacris cristata

is a breathtaking grasshopper species and one of the largest in the world, known for its massive size and vividly colored wings. When disturbed, it reveals stunning flashes of bright blue or green as a defensive display, making it a dramatic and unforgettable species.

These grasshoppers are very large, powerful, and active, best suited for beginner invertebrate keepers who can provide spacious and secure enclosures.

Environment: Vertical tropical setup with branches, foliage, and strong mesh for climbing
Humidity: Moderate to high; mist daily but ensure good ventilation to prevent mold
Diet: Fresh leaves such as oak, bramble, rose
Behavior: Diurnal, strong jumpers, easily startled, needs plenty of space
Temperature: 20–28 °C
