Coromus diaphorus

is a visually striking flat-backed millipede native to West Africa (Nigeria, Togo, Ghana). It features a dark body with golden to beige-edged segments and reddish-brown antennae and legs. This species is surface-active and thrives in humid, well-structured terrarium environments.

These millipedes are medium-sized (5–8 cm), active, and relatively easy to keep and breed. They form stable colonies under consistent care and are suitable for keepers familiar with tropical invertebrate husbandry.

Environment:
A small vivarium (minimum 20×20×20 cm) or sealed container with cross ventilation. Provide a deep substrate (10 cm) composed of humus-rich soil, shredded deciduous leaves, decaying wood, a small amount of sand or grit, and added calcium such as cuttlebone or crushed oyster shell.

Humidity:
Keep overall humidity at 70–80 percent. Substrate should be moist to touch but not waterlogged. Cross ventilation helps prevent mold buildup.

Diet:
Primarily decayed leaves and rotting wood within the substrate. Supplement occasionally with fruits and vegetables, moss, and calcium sources like cuttlebone or garden limestone. Protein additions (fish flakes) are optional.

Behavior:
Surface-active and group-oriented. Appear most during dusk and night but may emerge during the day in stable environments. They are easy to observe due to their active movement above the substrate .

Temperature:
Ideal temperatures range from 22 to 24 °C, acceptable between 20 and 26 °C. Avoid direct heat mats under the tank.
