Cubaris sp. “Orange Panda King”
is a selectively bred isopod morph derived from the standard Panda King line, originally native to Thailand. It is prized for its vibrant orange body contrasted with creamy white legs and antennae. This species is both visually striking and popular among isopod enthusiasts for display-focused enclosures.
These isopods are small, slow-growing, and can be sensitive to fluctuations, making them better suited for intermediate to advanced keepers with experience in tropical isopod care.
Environment: Tropical terrarium or sealed container with controlled airflow; provide a deep layer of organic soil or coco fiber mixed with sphagnum moss, leaf litter, and rotting wood; add cork bark and other hides for cover and microclimate zones.
Humidity: High humidity between 75 and 85 percent; keep substrate consistently moist but not soaked, and include dry pockets to prevent mold buildup.
Diet: Decaying leaves and soft wood as staples; supplement once or twice weekly with vegetables (e.g. sweet potato, carrot), protein sources like fish flakes or shrimp pellets, and a constant calcium source such as cuttlebone or limestone.
Behavior: Surface-active but shy when disturbed; becomes more visible as colonies stabilize; females raise young in a brood pouch and colonies reproduce steadily under stable conditions.
Temperature: Maintain between 22 and 26 °C; short-term drops to 20 °C or peaks to 28 °C are tolerated but not ideal for breeding
