Gyna lurida
is a medium-sized cockroach species appreciated for its soft, velvety appearance and pale coloration. Native to tropical regions of Africa, this species is often used in display colonies due to its calm nature and manageable size.
These cockroaches are non-climbing, moderately active, and easy to care for, making them suitable for both hobbyists and breeders.
Environment: Tropical setup with hiding spaces such as cork bark, egg cartons, and leaf litter
Humidity: Moderate to high; keep substrate slightly moist and provide occasional misting
Diet: Dry leaf litter, vegetables, fruits, fish flakes, and a calcium source
Behavior: Mostly nocturnal, non-aggressive, tolerant of group housing
Temperature: 24–28 °C
