Spiropoeus fischeri
can reach 15–20 cm in length with a sleek black body and black legs. It is docile and primarily surface-active at night.
These millipedes are easy to keep when provided space and consistent conditions, and they breed routinely under stable environments. They are suitable for keepers familiar with larger tropical species
Environment:
Large enclosure at least twice the millipede’s length, with 10–15 cm of substrate made from organic matter, decaying wood, leaf litter, and coconut fiber
Humidity:
Maintain 70–80 percent humidity with moist substrate but avoid waterlogging; ensure ventilation to prevent mold
Diet:
Feeding includes decaying leaves, wood, fruit, vegetable scraps, and occasional dry protein sources; provide calcium via cuttlebone or oyster shell
Behavior:
Nocturnal and surface-roaming; may burrow shallowly and climb over substrate, calm and tolerant of handling
Temperature:
Ideal range is 22–27 °C; short fluctuations between 20–30 °C are tolerable if conditions remain stable
