Panchlora nivea “Giant”
commonly known as the Giant Banana Roach, is a larger form of the well-known Panchlora nivea. It is native to Central and South America and is recognized by its striking leaf-green coloration and strong flight capability.

This species is hardy, breeds quickly, and is ideal for display colonies and as a feeder species for reptiles and amphibians.

Environment: Provide a tall and well-ventilated enclosure, as these roaches are capable fliers. A 20+ liter container with secure screening is recommended. Use 5–10 cm of moist substrate such as coconut fiber or soil with leaf litter and provide bark pieces or cork slabs for shelter.

Humidity: Moderate to high (70–85%). Mist the enclosure lightly 2–3 times per week and maintain good ventilation to avoid mold.

Diet: Omnivorous. Offer a mix of fresh fruits (banana, apple, orange) and vegetables (carrot, sweet potato), along with dry foods like fish flakes, dog kibble, or insect chow. Always provide a calcium source such as cuttlebone or eggshell.

Behavior: Nocturnal and very active, especially at night. Adults can fly and will take advantage of open enclosures, so a secure lid is essential. Nymphs burrow in the substrate, while adults prefer to climb and hide on vertical surfaces.

Temperature: Best kept between 24–28 °C. Cooler temperatures slow breeding and growth but are tolerated short term.
