Porcellio ornatus “Yellow” morph
is a large, visually striking isopod species native to Spain, with active behavior and a preference for arid‑cliffside style habitats. The bright “yellow” morph is notable in the hobby for its bold coloration and robust size (up to ~2.5 cm)anding, recommended for keepers who can maintain stable dry–moist gradients and high ventilation environments.
Environment: Mediterranean‑style setup with ¼ moist corner, dry open spaces, deep substrate, cork bark, logs, and leaf litter
Temperature: 20–25 °C (68–78 °F) with nightly dips to mid‑60 °F acceptable
Humidity: Low to moderate; keep ~25% of enclosure damp and the remainder dry with high ventilation to mimic cliff‑side airflow
Diet: Omnivorous detritivores: decaying leaves, wood, vegetables, fruits; extra protein from fish flakes or shrimp pellets; calcium supplements (e.g., cuttlebone, oyster shell) encouraged
Behavior: Highly active and exploratory, often visible throughout the enclosure; territorial tendencies require ample space, especially among males
