Siliquofera grandis
is one of the largest katydid species in the world, native to the rainforests of Papua New Guinea. It is known for its impressive size, vivid green leaf-like camouflage, and the ability to produce defensive stridulation sounds when threatened.
They do not make any sound, this is often said but not true
These insects are very large, visually impressive, and relatively easy to keep, making them ideal for beginners and experienced keepers with space to provide a stable and enriched enclosure.
Environment: Tall tropical setup with live or artificial plants, branches, and vertical surfaces
Humidity: High; maintain a moist environment with regular misting and adequate airflow
Diet: Fresh leaves such as bramble, oak, eucalyptus, and soft fruits (pesticide-free)
Behavior: Nocturnal, slow-moving, communicates via stridulation, prefers quiet environments
Temperature: 24–28 °C
