Cubaris murina “Glacier”
is a small and hardy isopod morph of Cubaris murina, appreciated for its striking pale white coloration. This species is widely kept due to its adaptability and steady breeding, making it suitable for both beginners and experienced keepers.
These isopods are social, surface active at night, and thrive in stable, humid conditions.
Environment: Tropical terrarium setup with at least 7–10 cm of moist substrate made of coconut fiber, leaf litter, rotting wood, and sphagnum moss. Provide plenty of cork bark, pods, and hides for shelter and microclimates.
Humidity: Moderate to high. Maintain a moisture gradient by keeping one side of the enclosure damp and the other side slightly drier to prevent mold and provide options for the colony.
Diet: Feed a mix of decaying leaves, soft rotting wood, vegetables like carrot or squash, and protein sources such as fish flakes or dried shrimp once or twice a week. Provide a constant calcium source like cuttlebone or crushed oyster shell.
Behavior: Active at night and often seen exploring the surface. They breed steadily when conditions are stable and prefer to live in large colonies.
Temperature: Best kept at 22–27 °C. They tolerate slightly cooler temperatures but breed more slowly.
