Cubaris sp. “Tung Song”
Native to the Tung Song caves of southern Thailand, this isopod is a smaller, metallic‑colored species with yellow spotting. It is shy and slow‑growing but becomes more active in larger colonies.
These isopods are moderately easy to maintain and well-suited for hobbyists interested in smaller, rarer Cubaris species.
Environment:
Use a ventilated container with one side moist (moss and leaf litter) and a slightly drier side. Include pieces of decaying white wood, forest moss, and cork for shelter.
Humidity:
Maintain 60–80 percent ambient humidity with substrate kept moist but not waterlogged.
Diet:
Provide leaf litter, forest moss, decaying wood, supplemented several times weekly with fruits or vegetables, protein-rich foods like fish flakes or dried shrimp, and a calcium source such as cuttlebone or limestone.
Temperature:
Ideal range is 22–28 °C.
Behavior:
Mostly nocturnal and timid. They prefer hiding but gradually explore more as colony size and confidence grow.
