Metallyticus splendidus

Environment: Terrarium with bark or cork bark as substrate and climbing surface, this is a bark dwelling species that clings to flat surfaces. Provide plenty of hiding spots and crevices. Moderate ventilation, avoid a fully sealed setup.

Humidity: High. Mist daily, keep substrate lightly moist.

Diet: First instars take springtails (collembola).  From L3-L4 onwards you can switch to fruit flies, but firebrats (silverfish) give the best results, supplemented with micro roaches as they grow larger.

Behavior: Fast, alert and skittish, they react sharply to disturbance and readily hide in crevices.

Sociability: Can be kept communally, this species tolerates group housing well as long as feeding is sufficient and dense to reduce competition.

Temperature: 24–26 °C

Breeding: Females lay oothecae, but each sac only produces a small number of nymphs.
