Troglodillo sp. Sunset

is a visually stunning isopod species known for its warm orange to reddish-brown coloration with subtly lighter legs and antennae. These isopods are surface-active and non-burrowing, making them ideal for display and observation in naturalistic enclosures.

These isopods are medium-sized, breed readily, and adapt well to bioactive setups. While they are forgiving to beginners, they do best when provided with consistent humidity and habitat complexity.

Environment:
Provide a semi-sealed terrarium or container with ventilation. Use a 5–10 cm substrate layer composed of organic soil or compost, sphagnum moss, leaf litter, and decayed wood. Add bark pieces, bark crevices, and cork hideouts for climbing and hiding.

Humidity:
Maintain moderate to high humidity (approximately 60–80 percent). Keep most of the substrate consistently moist but not saturated. Leave some drier areas for airflow and microclimate variety.

Diet:
Feed on decaying leaves and wood as staples. Supplement twice weekly with fresh vegetables such as carrot, squash, or sweet potato. Provide supplemental protein through fish flakes or dried shrimp every one to two weeks. Always include a calcium source such as crushed oyster shell or cuttlebone.

Behavior:
Troglodillo sp. Sunset is active both day and night, often seen on substrate surfaces and under bark. They do not burrow deeply and are easy to observe in healthy enclosures. Their social nature leads to visible, thriving colonies.

Temperature:
Ideal temperature range is 20–26 °C. They can tolerate short-term drops to 18 °C or spikes to 28 °C, but prolonged exposure outside the preferred range may stress the colony.
